Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Racing Team riders Chris Marsh, Charlie Orchard and James Veal travelled to the mainland for the 1st round of the Goodwood Summer Series at the famous Goodwood motor racing circuit last Tuesday (25th April).
Over 60 riders were on the start sheet and weather conditions were good on the night, with a headwind start/finish and a fast tailwind section, which proved to be the place on the track to try to get away from the bunch. The race was full of attacks with many riders not wanting a bunch sprint finish.
A group of 4 riders make a break in the latter stage of the race and managed to stay away to the finish. The bunch had to settle for a sprint to take the minor places – James rode a tactical race and managed to take 8th place on the night with Charlie and Chris finishing with the bunch.
