Wightlink is reminding customers to continue to follow the Government’s instructions and stay at home – particularly over the coming Bank Holiday weekend – to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
In a personal message from Wightlink’s Chief Executive, Keith Greenfield, Wightlink urges those customers with bookings to change their booking to a future date unless their visit is essential.
At a time when the ferry operator would normally be transporting many thousands of visitors to the Isle of Wight, Wightlink is instead reiterating its role in carrying essential goods, services and key workers only, for the time being.
Keith Greenfield, Wightlink’s Chief Executive says:
“We appreciate that the vast majority of our customers are following the stay at home measures and we’re very grateful to those who are doing so. Please help us to protect those living on the Isle of Wight by staying at home.”

I’d like to think someone with the necessary legal authority was actually checking properly, this is all too casual.
Should of stopped this from the beginning, supplies to the island only or essential workers. They should be policing at ports and anybody without good reason should be turned around and sent back immediately. Protect our islanders.
So mainlanders are still bloody coming here after all! Bob Seely said they were not! Just goes to prove, you can never TRUST a politician! THEY NEED TO STAY AWAY we don’t want them bringing more virus with them
ha who is Bob Seely? i keep hearing about him but never hear anything from him unless he welcomes cash to help islanders so it makes him look good and thinks its him helping but its not him
Hey I have had an idea, why not just stop them getting on the ferries if the journey is not essential rather than asking them to re-book, because you can guarantee, there will be NO checks to people coming over here from the mainland.
I think that anyone coming here now, should load the new app on their phones too. Just to see who has the virus as they spread it.
Don’t think they can yet unless you’re a resident. Anyway it doesn’t exactly tell them who has the virus so won’t help.
Just better policing at the ferries
These people should not even be booked on ferry’s
Will no one abide by the rules?
Wight Link should cancel all bookings unless the traveler can prove that the visit is essential.
I can’t understand why checks are not made we made an essential journey I expected to be stopped and questioned bot nothing was shocked
I saw what looked like non locals traveling back to island again no questions asked on Wightlink
