Wightlink have signed an agreement with specialist Isle of Wight supplier IDML to buy state-of-the-art wet weather clothes for staff.
Ship crew and shore staff will now be supplied with smart new Helly Hansen high visibility jackets to keep them warm and dry through the worst storms. Wightlink buys more than 250 jackets every year for its fulltime and seasonal staff.
Customer Relations Officer Wendy Hamm sought views from colleagues when the company was considering getting a new supplier for these essential items of uniform.
“Jackets are tested to the limit at Wightlink because our staff ashore and afloat are out in all weathers. They need smart and durable garments made of breathable waterproof material. Helly Hansen jackets from IDML fitted the bill and are already popular with staff.”
The ferry company is pleased with the Newport-based company’s professionalism. Wightlink’s Operations Director, Elwyn Dop said:
“We went to IDML because they offered us a good choice of garments with excellent service and a flexible approach. This also reflects our policy of doing business with Island suppliers wherever possible.”
Martin Morris from IDML says:
“It is our philosophy to build long term relationships with our customers and we are very happy to work in partnership with Wightlink, in supplying our range of Helly Hansen jackets to keep the company’s staff warm, dry and comfortable in all conditions.”
