This weekend, as part of the Hulaballoo celebrations, WightKarting will bring go-karting back to Sandown thanks to the installation of a temporary track and a series of new electric go-karts, suitable for parents and children alike.
Hullabaloo (12th/13th May 2018) is now in it’s second year and gives parents and children alike the chance to fly kites with professionals, build your own racing kart and much more. The event focuses on the arts, community, health and the environment by combining carnival antics with a number of hands-on activities.
Ryde family-business owner Andy Foulkes says:
“We are getting into the holiday spirit as part of the great efforts put into Hulaballoo by the organisers. There are extensive plans to regenerate the Sandham Gardens area on Culver Parade and we look forward to being part of it all this year.
“As our first venture in time for Sandown Hulaballoo, the old track and bumpy giant slide was removed, and it is now ready to be enjoyed again by all. Along with The Heritage GB, Hullabaloo team and all the entrants in the soap box derby, WightKarting think it’s time to look forwards and give some sparkle back to Sandown”.
Cathy Foulkes, owner at WightKarting, adds:
“Our staff are very excited to share their passion with all young children in the new karts. We’re excited to say that the temporary track will be open to all who can reach the pedals, and if they can’t, then the new karts enable the parents and grandparents to drive with them so that all can enjoy.”
In preparation of the event this weekend, local grandparent Kevin Dannatt was offered the chance to test the new karts with grandson Teddy this week.
Kevin said:
“Teddy loved the thrill of being behind the wheel and I think it was more fun for me to share his excitement – he hasn’t stopped talking about it since. I’m sure that WightKarting will bring much added enjoyment to the Hulaballoo this weekend and to the Sandown area ongoing.”
WightKarting based in Ryde now offers the Isle of Wight’s only all-weather outdoor 500 metre floodlit circuit specially deisgned to suit all drivers across ages and abilities. Open 7 days a week, all year round for advanced bookings of 20+.
As of this summer, WightKarting will also have a presence in Sandown.
Hullaballoo takes place on 12th and 13th May 2018.
