With less than a fortnight to go until the inaugural ‘The Wight Proms’ event, organisers have announced their support of Island artists and the next generation of local young musicians.
This year’s event, which runs from 16th-19th August 2018, will see the likes of Claydon Connor, The Rockafellas, Theatretrain Singers, Wight Ukers and Company B-UK all perform.
In addition, 60 local children will be taking part in the Musical Theatre Workshops, which will culminate in them performing at ‘Wight at the Musicals’ on Saturday 18th August.
7 young winners of the Isle of Wight Music, Dance & Drama Festival will be performing over the course of the event. Lucy Baker, Talitha Monaghan, Tori Ellen Ross and Eva Whitehead will take to the stage for ‘Wight at the Musicals’, whilst Emma Butler-Hulme, Amelia Luter and Nathan Stubbings will perform during ‘Last Wight of the Proms’.
13-year-old Tori Ellen Ross from Freshwater has been chosen to sing as the young Princess Fiona in the song ‘I Know It’s Today’ from Shrek as part of ‘Wight at the Musicals’.
