Wight Proms organisers have announced a lunchtime concert series called ‘Wight Proms Wednesdays’ which will be held monthly at Northwood House.
The Wight Proms is the annual outdoor festival celebrating comedy, opera, drag, musical theatre, dance and classical proms, which takes place annually in August at Northwood House in Cowes
The idea, Wight Proms Wednesdays, was created to bring a bit of the ‘Wight Proms’ throughout the year. The concerts take place monthly on Wednesdays at 12:30 with the next one is this Wednesday (8th March).
Each session will last around 40 minutes and will be held in the stunning Ballroom at the prestigious venue. Lunch will be on offer after the concert in the nearby drawing room.
When buying tickets, anyone wishing to do so can donate to the Wight Proms’ associated Island charity ‘Independent Arts’ who use the arts to improve well-being, and quality of life and to reduce social isolation on the Isle of Wight, since 1987.
The dates of the concerts are as follows:
- 8th March – Mike Christie (Voice/Piano) – Wight Proms founder & X-Factor and G4 star
- 3rd May – Louise Callinan (Voice & Piano) – Award-winning mezzo-soprano, accompanied by Elena Silina
- 14th June – James Longford (Piano) – Steinway Artist & award-winning pianist from Ryde
- 15th July – Rodney Earl Clarke (Voice & Piano) – Baritone & Gramophone’s “singer to be watched”, accompanied by Marina Savova
- 6th September – Thomas Luke (Piano) – BBC Young Musician Keyboard Winner from Ryde
- 2nd November – Jack Roberts (Voice & Piano) – Island tenor & Opera Magazine’s “epitome of an emerging talent”
