The Wight Diamonds Marching Band are set to begin their 2017 season with a concert performance of music from film and stage musicals in aid of the Isle of Wight Branch of the RSPCA.
‘Showstoppers, The Concert’ is billed as a toe tapping, fun packed evening of great classic music from the big screen and the stage, including musical highlights from The Lion King, Jurassic Park, Les Miserable and Monty Python’s Flying Circus, to name but a few.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Isle of Wight Branch of the RSPCA and the animal centre in Godshill.
Wight Diamonds Marching band are a community band that was formed in January 2000. They have a current membership of 45 musicians of mixed ages and ability, both male and female.
Participating in over 40 engagements a year, from Remembrance Daye services, Carnivals, Fetes, Village Shows and Concerts, the band consists of Brass and Woodwind players, as well as a Corps of Drums.
The concert will be held at Trinity Theatre in Cowes, on Saturday 1st April, and will start at 19:00. Tickets are £5.00 and are available from the RSPCA centre in Godshill and RSPCA shops, as well as being sold on door.
Wight Diamonds Marching Band are always looking to attract new members of any ability. As part of National Marching Band Awareness Week, they will be holding an open day on 2nd May.
