A much-loved event in the WHSmith calendar, World Book Day is, once again being celebrated by hundreds of stores across the country – including here on the Isle of Wight.

WHSmith stores will be hosting a variety of events and activities to promote reading to thousands of school children across the UK. This year, Ryde will be holding a slime making event between 10:00-14:00 on Saturday (3rd March).

In addition to the activities in store, WHSmith will also be donating over £20,000 of vouchers to hundreds of schools, helping them to boost their library resources.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, a celebration of reading. It’s the biggest celebration of its kind and is marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

Karl Edwards WHSmith Ryde Store Manager has said:

“We’re really excited to be supporting Local Schools as part of our World Book Day celebrations; helping them to improve their library facilities.

“Getting more and more children to read is something we are very passionate about and we are really looking forward to welcoming the children into our store to choose their books.

“We are also very excited to invite children of all ages into the Ryde store Saturday 3rd March for slime making between 10am-2pm”
