WESTRIDGE FARM PLANS HELD UP BY PLANNING DECISION

Plans to build 80 homes on land at Westridge Farm in Ryde have been held up by a decision to reject the planing application – but the decision has been ‘called in’ by Council officers.

Councillors voted against the controversial plans on Wednesday evening with a 8-1 majority, despite a recommendation to approval the plans.

The decision to reject the scheme on the basis of inadequate access has brought joy to those campaigning against the loss of farming land for a residential build, however, the Isle of Wight Council’s officers have decided to ‘call in’ the planning committee’s decision.

The Westridge Farm application will be heard again on 28th February.
