WEATHER KIND AT VENTNOR FOR BOXING DAY SWIMMERS

VIDEO: The cold seas didn’t deter hundreds of people from taking a dip during the traditional Ventnor Boxing Day swim yesterday (Monday).

Bikinis, onesies and everything in between could be seen right along the Esplanade as fundraisers prepared to run into the bitterly cold sea at midday.

The rather unseasonable warm conditions on dry land were welcomed by the crowds who gathered to cheer on the brave swimmers.

The event, which raises money for the People’s Approach to Cancer Help (PATCH), is a firm Island tradition and takes place every Boxing Day.

Safety cover was provided by Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and Ventnor Coastguard.
