The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the annual Yarmouth Old Gaffers’ Festival at the weekend, with bumper numbers of visitors heading to the seaside event.
The 18th running of the festival saw thousands of visitors head to Yarmouth to view a vast range of traditional ‘Old Gaffers’, with over 100 boats on show throughout the long weekend.
The event kicked off on Friday with Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat sailing into the harbour to launch the proceedings alongside Yarmouth Harbour Master Chris Lister.
Despite problems with a sodden park and ride car park at Bouldnor which resulted in traffic chaos in the area, Island Roads and Police worked with organisers to quickly resolve the problems, not letting the poor weather ruin the thoroughly enjoyed event.
Live music and street performers were present throughout the town with a wide choice of local and international produce stalls as well as a show of classic cars, charities and safety advise from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
