Friday 25th September is Hats4HIOWAA Day and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) are asking their supporters to help raise money to keep the Air Ambulance flying by wearing a hat to work for the day.
The concept is simple; wear a hat to work for the day and make a one off donation to HIOWAA by texting HATS (plus a donation) to 70500. Supporters are encouraged to share their selfies with others by uploading their photos to the charity Facebook or Twitter pages using the #Hats4Hiowaa hashtag.
The charity’s inaugural Hats4Hiowaa Day in 2014 saw individuals and businesses across the region donning their favourite hats for the day, and raising significant funds through text donations.
Charity Manager Sherie Williams Ellen commented;
“Hats4Hiowaa Day has proven to be a hat raising success. It’s simple, it’s fun and anyone can take part. Our message to our supporters is clear – save the date and help us spread the word!”.
The charity intends to repeat the winning formula of Hats4Hiowaa Day again this year and for the campaign to become a regular fixture in the HIOWAA calendar.
HIOWAA flies seven days a week and attends an average of two to three missions a day, many of them life saving. The charity receives no government, statutory or national lottery funding for operational purposes, and is entirely dependent on gifts received from members of the public, companies and grant-making bodies to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
