Whitecroft & Barton made it 8 wins out of 8 in Harwoods Division 1 yesterday afternoon with a 3-1 home win over Ventnor, joining their table-topping opponents on 24 points but with 2 games in hand.
W&B had their captain, Harry Ovnik, to thank after he nodded in a brace of corners from Harrison Taylor after 12 minutes and just before the hour mark.
The home side dominated the 1st half, though Ventnor’s Emerson Tattersall was denied after a stunning free kick struck the post with the score at 1-0.
After going 2-0 down, there was a great response from Ventnor, Ovnik turned to his defensive duties to clear a goalmouth scramble, before a Tattersall strike from outside the area was deflected just over the bar.

However, from the resulting Freddie Knowles corner, Charlie Urry rose above his marker to head home and deservedly halve the deficit with his 12th goal of the season.
Ventnor continued to push for the equaliser – there were golden chances for Martin Barrow and Callum Illman, but neither could capitalise. They were made to pay with just 10 minutes remaining – Sam Cant set Kade Woodford free on the left wing, he slotted home for his 9th goal of the season to give W&B a 3-1 lead and the 3 points.
