Harwoods Division 1 leaders Whitecroft & Barton Sports made hard work of beating East Cowes Sports at the GKN Sports Ground on Saturday.
W&B were on top in the 1st half with Kyle Drew coming close in the opening stages of the game with headed efforts.
Matt Evans put the ball in the net in the 19th minute but had his effort ruled offside.
A minute later, ECS took the lead through a close range strike from Josh Richardson (1-0).
W&B continued to press with Sam Cant shooting over the crossbar and Joe Rayner forcing ECS keeper Harvey to save at full stretch.
ECS continued to threaten at the other end of the pitch, forcing a couple of good saves from Gareth True.
Harvey then had to make a couple of vital blocks from Drew in the final minutes of the 1st half to preserve ECS’ lead until the interval.

Half time: ECS 1-0 W&B
Josh Richardson came close to scoring a brace for ECS on the hour mark when his volley missed the woodwork by inches.
W&B equalized in the 70th minute through Matt Evans (1-1).
ECS were desperately unlucky when W&B were awarded a penalty after a foul by Aiden Jones shortly before the final whistle, which was converted by Aidan Sainsbury.
