A display cabinet has been smashed and wooden plaques have been thrown in the river at Alverstone Nature Reserve near Sandown overnight.
Glass has been left scattered across a popular squirrel hide following the episode of vandalism sometime between yesterday evening and this morning (Thursday).
Photos and information posters have been ripped off the wall and thrown about the area, alongside wooden plaques created by Red Hill Farm designs.
Visitors to the hide have expressed their disgust at finding the volunteer-led location in such a state.
Police have been informed.
