East Cowes Vics’ playoff place ambitions were dented as they lost 3-0 on the road to Folland Sports this evening (Wednesday). The Planemakers opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Josh Carey against the run of play (1-0). The home side were unlucky not to be 2 goals to the good when Arshia Sheibatzadeh hit the post and then blasted his follow up attempt wide. However, in 1st half injury time, Folland got their 2-goal cushion with a strike from their no 11 Freeman Nyakumbi (2-0). Vics had the lions share of the possession and most of the chances, but some clinical Folland finishing saw the Island side trailing by 2 goals at the half time interval. Half time: Folland Sports 2-0 East Cowes Vics Vics piled on the pressure at the start of the 2nd half with an effort cleared off the goal line and Callum Chase heading over the crossbar. The East Cowes side had an opportunity to pull a goal back when awarded a penalty but Jacob Reynolds saw his shot saved by Folland keeper Szyszko. The Planemakers were reduced to 10 men with the sinbinning of 1 of their players. However, Vics failed to take advantage of the extra man and were punished by Folland centre forward Nyakumbi, who rounded Ram for the 2nd time in the game to score (3-0). The East Cowes side started to lose their discipline towards the end of the game with sinbins awarded to captain Callum Chase and substitute Rafferty Boyd-Kerr and were unlucky not to suffer a 4-goal defeat when Folland’s Ashton Palmier hit the upright. Full time: Folland Sports 3-0 East Cowes Vics East Cowes Vics: Ram, Snow, Yates, Newbold, Chase (c), Chapman, Reynolds, Wheeler, Marsek, Wright, Nash Subs: Boyd-Kerr, Neale, Coode, Young Vics remain 5th in Wessex Division 1 with 53 points from 29 games, 2 points ahead of Fleetlands, who won 1-5 at AFC Aldermaston. This Saturday (16th March), the East Cowes playoff place hopefuls face 4th-placed Alresford on North Island. Tomorrow evening (Thursday), Newport welcome Andover Town to Beatrice Avenue. Kick off is at 19:45.
