East Cowes Vics take on Frimley Green at Beatrice Avenue today (Saturday), knowing they need to beat the Surrey side by a margin of 2 goals or more to secure 5th place and a coveted berth in the playoffs. Vics are level on points with Fleetlands, who have a better goal difference (+2). Fleetlands are playing New Milton Town on the same day. If the 2 sides finish with the same goal difference, then their positions will be decided on goals scored then the number of wins (Vics have won more games than Fleetlands). Both Frimley Green and New Milton Town are battling to avoid finishing in the relegation places. Vics are hoping the local community will rally round the club in their final push for a playoff place. East Cowes Vics have said:
“Our final home game is this Saturday 27th April at 15:00. “Ultimately it’s still in our hands. Win and win well, and we will clinch the final playoff place. “We are calling on all our supporters and the local community to come to Beatrice Avenue to raise the roof and play your part in getting the team over the line “Our match day special price is £3 for anyone over 16 and you’ll also receive a raffle number for the chance of a cash prize. All under 16’s are free for this fixture.”

“We’re absolutely delighted with the season overall and to have reached the final day still with opportunity to finish in a playoff position is an outstanding achievement. “Regardless of what happens at Fleetlands, our focus is very much on delivering a top performance against Frimley – hopefully in front of a good crowd at Beatrice Avenue. “The support we’ve had at home this season has been outstanding and I’d like to thank every single person who has been down to a game to cheer us on.”

Also in Wessex Division 1, Newport travel to 2nd-from-bottom Andover Town in their final league game. Cowes Sports have already completed their season in the Wessex Premier and will end their season in 11th place (dropping out of the top half of the table) if Fareham beat Christchurch today.
