Ventnor Beach has been ranked as 21st in a list of nearly 100 top beach spots, as compiled by Which?.
With an unprecedented number of people in the UK now looking to book so-called ‘staycations’, Which? launched a nationwide poll to gather views on the country’s coastal destinations, with 2 of the Island’s beaches being listed.
Ventnor came as number 21 in the list, beating off the likes of Falmouth in Cornwall and nearby Lymington, and received a customer score of 78%, with particular praise for its scenery and peace and quiet.
Nearby Shanklin also features on the list, coming in just behind Oban and Bude, with a customer score of 72%. The average hotel price in the town of £85 per night mixed with its tourist attractions and high value for money meant it beat Brighton and Bournemouth.
The survey of more than 4,000 people found Northumberland’s Bamburgh come out as number 1, while Skegness ended up at the bottom of the list.

I am presuming that Shanklin finished higher than Ventnor, or did Stevie Wonder and all of his family vote for Ventnor ?
Shanklin is a much superior beach in every aspect.
shanklin is a cold and uninviting beach.
Ventnor is cosy with character.. and hot!
It was even better in the fifties when we watched the porpoises from the pier on a Sunday afternoon
I think Ian you are missing the point. Shanklin ha
