VENTNOR EXCHANGE BRINGS THE BIG RECORD STORE DAY MUSIC QUIZ HOME

Published at:

Record Store Day, which was due to take place in Ventnor today (Saturday), was set to be the busiest and buzziest day of the year for Ventnor Exchange, which is now postponed like many other events.

Do not fear though… the team have come up with another way for music lovers to get involved whilst supporting the Exchange to create opportunities for young people on the island.

The Big Virtual Record Store Day Quiz, hosted by local musician and muso Doug Alldred, will be taking place TONIGHT. A Zoom link will be posted to the Ventnor Exchange website and Facebook event, which you’ll be able to join from19:30 for an 20:00 start.

You’ll see and hear the quizmaster Doug Alldred, but he won’t hear you and can only see you if you choose to use Webcam. The team at the Exchange strongly recommend that you create a household team, as there will be questions about all the eras and genres!

As well as this, Ventnor Exchange have set up a way for you to buy virtual drinks through crowdfunder. Any support will go directly towards their new online platform Brave Island, which will provide young people with fantastic creative opportunities.

Mhairi, director of Ventnor Exchange says:

“We are really missing all of our fantastic and supportive audience during this strange time and can’t wait to get the doors open again but in the meantime we will find new ways to reach out whilst we are all doing our bit and staying home”.

Record Store Day is normally the Exchange’s busiest day of the year for the shop and bar so any virtual drinks bought will be a huge help whilst they remain closed under lockdown. Normally their trading income in the bar and store is invested straight back into the non profit organisation to create cultural experiences for all on the Isle of Wight.
