Vectis Brass Band are going on an Isle of Wight tour, performing at 3 Christmas concerts over the festive season – and all are free to attend.
Vectis Brass is a community organisation that has been based in Ryde since being formed in 1947. The band has a strong community ethos and believes in making music as accessible as possible for the community. Vectis Brass teaches students young and old how to play Brass instruments and donations given at Christmas time help to keep this tuition free.
On the concert tour, the band will first visit the Salvation Army Hall in Newport on Sunday 24th November at 14:30. This concert will feature the youth and training band, as well as the main band. Next up will be the beautiful St John’s Church, Chawton Lane, Northwood, on Sunday 1st December at 15:00. Finally, the band will visit St Saviours Church in Shanklin on Thursday 12th December at 19:30.
Musical Direction Jay Taylor said:
“We have been working hard on our Christmas Programme and have a variety of music for everyone to enjoy. Collections at Christmas help to keep the band afloat for the rest of the year, and we are grateful for to the local community for all their support”.
All concerts will feature traditional carols and festive favourites with tea, coffee and refreshments provided.
