A rare Ford Transit flatbed van was stolen from outside a property in Newport overnight before being taken directly to the mainland.
CCTV has captured the moment 2 people began snooping around the Transit 125 T350 Tilt and Slide van on Parkhurst Road at the top of Hunnyhill.
Shockingly, the duo came back a short while later at 00:43 and stole the locked vehicle without having the keys.
Investigations have established that the vehicle was taken straight to the Red Funnel ferry terminal in East Cowes and was boarded onto the 01:30 ferry to Southampton.
The rightful owners believe the theft was a ‘well planned and professional job’. The theft could potentially lead to financial hardship for the Newport family as the vehicle is used for business purposes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting 44190213217.
How can this happen when you have to board a boat to nick it. Where is the cctv from the boat!! Surely the pair would be easily indentifiable from the hour journey!
