The annual Isle of Wight Randonnee cycling event was once again a huge success with approximately 3,000 cyclists navigating clockwise around the Island on Sunday.
Those taking part chose to complete either a full loop of the Island (100km) or the half loop (55km), taking in the stunning scenery the Isle of Wight has to offer on the way. There were several checkpoints for cyclists to start and finish their ride from.
Mainland crowds crammed onto the car ferries bright and early on Sunday morning full of anticipation for the day ahead. They joined a large number of local cyclists who were also taking part in the event, which passed without incident – save for the odd puncture or two!
The Isle of Wight Randonnee was established by the Wayfarers Cycle Touring Club in 1985. The free, family friendly event is the largest event of its kind on the South Coast and attracts around 3,000 participants each year.
