3 new books written by local authors are to be launched ay Medina Bookshop on Cowes High Street throughout September.
The 1st of the 3 launches is on Tuesday 13th at 18:00 for Mandi Martin’s fantasy novel of vengeance, loyalty and conflict ‘The Veritable Thrill Of Exactitude’, published by Pegasus. Mandi began writing as an outlet for her mental health issues and is donating a percentage of the royalties to the National Autistic Association.
The 2nd launch at 18:00 on Thursday 22nd is for the new graphic novel from author and illustrator Meg L Hewison. Meg has published 3 other titles for children and her new book ‘Dancing With Lights’ is a fun adventure following fantastical cat creatures who paint the northern lights as they attempt to strike peace with the creators of the stars.
The 3rd of the launches at 18:00 on Friday 30th September is for the new non-fiction title by Andrew Rigsby, ‘Sabre Prattling: The Language Of The Battlefield’. Published by Beachy Books it explores the rich array of colourful idioms, similies and metaphors of everyday use that have their origins in the use of firearms and conflicts. A former Marine, the author is a regular contributor in the media as a consultant on guns and warfare.
Medina Bookshop manager, Paul Armfield has said:
“The rich seam of local literary talent just keeps giving and giving, and whilst it’s completely accidental that these three events follow on so neatly from the Book Awards it’s also not surprising as new books keep coming all the time. We love a good book launch, it’s our chance to help the author celebrate and shout about the book. They are all free and everyone is welcome to attend for a drink, a natter and a chance to get a book signed and meet the author.”
