After a night of blustery weather, some of the Island’s trees have been at the centre of attention this morning (Friday) with road closures being put in place for some.
Blackwater Hollow was closed this morning from its junction with Blackwater Road to its junction with Sandy Lane for a distance of 142 metres.
This was to allow the safe removal of a fallen tree – the road has since reopened.
Island Roads’ crews have received a number of reports regarding fallen trees around the island, some of those locations reported include:
- Blackwater Hollow, Blackwater
- Stroudwood Road, Ryde
- West Lane, Brading
- New Road, Brading
- Pound Lane, Calbourne
- Whitecross Lane, Shanklin
- Undercliff Drive, St Lawrence
- Bullen Road, Ryde
- Newport Road, Apse Heath
- Cowes to Newport Cycle Track
- Ashey Road, Ryde
A spokesperson for Island Roads has said:
“It’s been a busy night with several trees down or dangerous including these at Stroudwood Road, Ryde and West Lane and New Road in Brading.
“Crews remain out and about keeping the network clear.
“Please take extra care while driving.”
If you come across a fallen tree, call Island Roads immediately on 01983 822440.
