With less than a week to go until the 4th annual IW Story Festival, organisers have reiterated the message of inclusion that the event, which celebrates stories of all types, promotes.
Former CBeebies presenter Cerrie Burnell, who will speak about her book Wilder Than Midnight, has broken down barriers, challenged stereotypes and overcome discrimination during her career. She wishes to increase the visibility of disabled people through presenting, writing and acting.
Author Julia Tuffs, who will headline on the Thursday of the festival (introduced for the first time for young people aged 12 and over) will speak about her books Hexed and Twice Hexed. The books feature a girl called Jessie, whose strange powers start to manifest during crippling period pains.
Select events – including Cerrie Burnell’s – will also feature communication support.
Final lineup additions have been made in the lead-up to the event and local author Geoff Banks will bring historical knowledge to the festival when he speaks about his book Journey to the Unknown.
2023 sees the first time live music will be part of the event, and leading the lineup are local singer/songwriter Doug Alldred and former 1980s popstar Simon Whitworth. Amy Jolliffe, Black Daniels, JC and Kathy Grimshaw, Ruby Bodenham and The Solar Escape will also all perform.
All live music will be completely free to watch in the Quay Arts café – the IW Story Festival hopes to give the experience of live music to young people who may not usually be able to access live gigs.
Many more authors, performers, poets and speakers will take to the stage over the IW Story Festival weekend. Horrible Histories and Ghosts star Simon Farnaby will headline on Saturday 18th, the same day as Laura Ellen Anderson, Jamie Littler and many more!
Kieran Larwood will headline on Friday 17th, speaking about his book The Treekeepers and the Horsebox Theatre will provide entertainment with their play The Lighthouse Keeper on the same day.

All inclusive you say, does this also include normal people ?
If, by “normal”, you mean swivel-eyed gammons like you then, yes, you would be welcome.
Be careful though. You might learn something.
No, we get to fund it through taxation though.
Depends how you define “normal”. Judging by your previous posts, “normal” means racist, bigoted, nasty, right-wing fascist. So of course you are welcome. The neuro-diverse are always welcome. You might learn some humility and widen your very narrow mind.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of National Socialism imo.
I am more left wing then you, maybe if you shut your mouth and open your eyes
you might learn something.
Brain washed zombies…..most people are pre-programed by the thought police since birth.
Please note that writing is not talking and I don’t need to to open my mouth when writing so there is no need to shut it. Maybe you do. Probably because you are drooling persistently.
I actually used to work for the thought police service. However, I had to leave when I discovered most people haven’t got much of a brain to think with and it made the job impossible. I applied to be a zombie but the brain washing didn’t work out well. Glad it all panned out better for you zombie boy. Get back to licking the windows now.
There’s a lot wrong with national socialism, please research germany, 1930-1945.
You dangerous little moron.
NO SHIT SHERLOCK……!!!!
WIGHT LIVES MATTER IMO.
THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE TO SHIT IMO.
AT LEAST I HAVE THE BOLLOX TO OWN MY OPINION !
Why am i dangerous ? Most islanders agree, just to scared to admit it.

Wow. What a nutter. What a massive over-reaction to a story festival. I had no idea that a story festival was so bad for the island and the country. Probably because it is actually a very good thing.
And there is no such word as “speach”. Perhaps you are directing us to some free peaches …
At least you signed this post with your actual name this time, although I am not sure why you finished with a kiss. Maybe you actually love humanity and you are just kidding us with the misanthropic rants. We love you too Mr Snowflake x
LMFAO…..Ting owned you…..!
Ooo..spelling mistake…shock horror !
Get back to your mothers nipple IW anchor….x
