Visit Isle of Wight is looking for your suggestions for a Tourism Superstar for 2019.
The competition, run by the Daily Mirror in conjunction with Visit England, saw Red Funnel’s Jim O’Reilly voted the UK’s Tourism Superstar 2018, sweeping the board in a nationwide poll and taking over 60% of the votes. Now Visit Isle of Wight is on the hunt for someone to lift Jim’s crown.
The Isle of Wight is famous for it’s warm and friendly welcome, and those working in the tourism sector are all too happy to share their wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors to the Island’s shore.
Nominees must work with a tourism business or organisation on or with the Isle of Wight and go above and beyond the call of duty to make the holiday experience for visitors one to remember.
Previous finalists in the Tourism Superstar awards have included a chef, a tour guide, a ‘meeter and greeter’, a publican, a park ranger, an education officer at a zoo and a skatepark manager.
Sue Emmerson, PR Officer at Visit Isle of Wight said:
“It’s great to be able to celebrate the talent we have here on the Island that help make it such a brilliant visitor destination.
“Red Funnel Dancing Man, Jim O’Reilly was the perfect candidate for the award and we are now looking for the Island’s next unsung holiday hero.
“Not only does the Tourism Superstar get the recognition they deserve, but winners have the opportunity to showcase their business – and their location – on a national stage”.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday 12th December, so we’re being asked to get thinking now, and to get the nominations in to Visit Isle of Wight as soon as possible.
Send a brief description of who you are nominating and a photo of them to Visit Isle of Wight’s Press Officer Sue Emmerson by email – [email protected].
