The team at Liz Earle in Ryde were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex to their visionary head office, The Green House, yesterday (Thursday).
As well as officially naming the new Wightlink ferry, as previously reported by Island Echo, The Countess was given a full tour of Liz Earle’s HQ building and its environmentally friendly innovations, which include geo-thermal heating, rain water harvesting, rooftop solar panels, and extensive recycling and composting facilities.
She also visited the Liz Earle kitchen garden and onsite woodland – an area located next to The Green House that is being re-wilded as a natural habitat to encourage the return of native flora and fauna, plus the endangered British red squirrel.
During the tour the Countess, who chairs the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Women in Business group, chatted with various team members from the company’s 88% female workforce, before departing to continue with the rest of her official duties on the Isle of Wight.
