Vehicular access to Newport Quay from Sea Street has been restored – albeit temporarily – ahead of the Isle of Wight Festival.
A temporary bridge has been installed across part of the River Medina to allow easy access for vehicles before, during and after next weekend’s festival.
The main bridge has been out of action since last August due to fears about the structural integrity of the access point.
Any vehicle up to 6ft 6in wide can use the bridge, but the usual restrictions will be in place throughout the festival period.
The temporary bridge, which has been organised by the festival organisers themselves, is expected to remain in place until 27th June.
