Taste of the Wight, the Island’s independent guide to food and drink, is launching The Isle of Wight Recipe Book on Monday 28th November, just in time for Christmas 2016.
The book features recipes from Island residents including home cooks, professional chefs and some well-known Islanders.
Profits from sales of the book will go to Bite the Wight, an initiative of the IW Youth Trust aiming to bring families and young people together.
Rob Da Bank, Patron of the IW Youth Trust said:
“We first organised Bite the Wight in 2013, with the spirit of community participation at its core. Taste of the Wight and the contributors to this book have brilliantly captured this spirit and we hope that this book will bring with it a little bit of community to all who read it.”
The Isle of Wight Recipe Book will be launched at the Quay Arts Centre and will feature talks from both the Taste of the Wight team and the IW Youth Trust and guests can enjoy nibbles from some of the recipes.
Lindsay Becker, editor of Taste of the Wight commented:
“With the progression of our printed guide, the idea to create a recipe book is something that we have been wanting to do for a long time. We thought people would like to see a recipe book from local people featuring Island produce and it seemed like natural progression for Taste. It is a great way of celebrating the Isle of Wight’s food scene and the fact that we can help raise money for a local charity whist we are at it, is the icing on the cake.”
A true local project, the photography for the book was undertaken by Holly Jolliffe, an Islander who has worked on a variety of projects including Coast Magazine, Grand Designs and Ideal Home. The house where the photography shoot took place was Fairways in Quarr, which was featured on Grand Designs in 2015, as well as various magazine shoots since.
The recipe book will be sold at a number of retaillers across the Island, as well as online at www.tasteofthewight.co.uk.
