An annual event aimed at providing ‘miles of smiles’ for less fortunate children by offering rides in luxury sports cars returned to the Isle of Wight on Saturday.
Children from YMCA Young Carers, St George’s School and Beaulieu House were all given the opportunity to ride in a variety of high-end cars thanks to The Sporting Bears Motor Club.
The day began at YMCA Winchester House in Shanklin, where young carers celebrating their Christmas party were given the opportunity to ride out in a variety of cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins, to name a few.
The event has been very well received for the past 4 years and was able to run again in 2016 thanks to help from Island Roads.
Having spent the morning with the young carers, the convoy of cars made their way to St Georges School at Watergate Lane in Newport, where children of the school and also children from Beaulieu House were then offered a thrilling ride around Newport. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also made an appearance at the school with Father Christmas riding shotgun.
The Sporting Bears Motor Club are all volunteers who give up their time, fuel and travel expenses to either raise money for children’s charities, or, as in this case, put smiles on the faces of the children.
As well as offering rides in the cars, The Sporting Bears Motor Club also presented sweets and selection packs donated by Bookers, Snows BMW and Sporting Bears members.
Wightlink once again sponsored the event.
