A ‘takeover’ event which saw around 300 modern and classic Ford cars descend on the Island over the weekend accumulated with a static show at Steyne Park in Bembridge yesterday (Sunday).
Ford enthusiasts from far and wide travelled across the Solent on Friday for the start of the weekend-long event, which saw a much welcomed boost to the local economy in and around Sandown. In addition, the event raised a total of £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.
Saturday afternoon saw a mass drive-out to The Needles and back along Military Road to the White Mouse Inn at Chale. After a short lunch break the cars made their way to The Yarbridge Inn near Sandown where event organiser Rich Fox hosted a party and fireworks in the evening.
The furthest travelled car was a Ford Focus RS from Germany, which joined many locally owned cars and others from across the UK.
Crowds gathered under the glorious sun at Steyne Park in Bembridge yesterday afternoon to see the cars on display and to buy products from the likes of FYD Apparel, JW Autoshine and Black Art Graphics. Awards were given for the best turned out vehicles.
The event has been hailed a huge success and passed without incident, with organisers already thinking about how they can make 2018’s event bigger and better.
