20 Ryde Harriers ventured across the Solent to successfully compete in the Victory 5-mile Road Race in Cosham on Sunday (3rd December) Ryde Harrier Matt Sharp was the 1st runner over the line. 4 Harriers were among the top 10, with Daniel Eckersley coming 4th, Joe Wade 7th, and Chris Newnham 10th. The Harriers were so successful that they returned from North Island with the team prize. The winning team consisted of the following 3 runners: Matt Sharp, Daniel Eckersley, Joe Wade. 1st-placed runner Matt Sharp said:
“Very happy with how Sunday went. Personally, it was a good test over a shorter distance to see how my fitness is after a good few weeks without racing. “The conditions were much improved from earlier in the week, which led to some fast times on a technical and twisty course. “It was brilliant to have such a strong Ryde Harriers turn out, with 4 in the top 10 ,and to secure the team prize was a well-deserved result for the guys.”
