Street food will be bringing a buzz to Newport Harbour, with the launch of the I Love Wight Newport Street Food Market.
The Isle of Wight Council, in partnership with Sara Truckel and Tamara Purves, the pair behind the popular I Love Wight Food Market each month in Brading, will be bringing street food to Newport Harbour on a weekly basis, every Friday from 10:30 to 16:00, beginning 1st September.
The I Love Wight Newport Street Food Market will be offering a variety of delicious hot and cold street food and drinks to liven up Friday lunchtimes each week. Sara and Tamara are aiming to create a unique space on the harbour for people to take time out to sit by the river and relax before heading back to work or home.
Isle of Wight Council Cabinet member for regeneration and business development, Councillor Wayne Whittle, said:
“We’re delighted to be bringing this exciting new street food offer to Newport Harbour and we hope people will begin to see how well spaces such as the harbour can be occupied in a vibrant, exciting and innovative way, as well as supporting local, independent businesses at the same time.
“Street food has become increasingly popular and we want to show that our Island local food producers and creators are more than a match for street food markets elsewhere. It’s going to create a brilliant atmosphere at the Newport Harbour area.”

“The I Love Wight Newport Street Food Market will be bringing a cast of mouth-watering Island based traders. They’ll be selling some of the Islands best produce, from garden fresh soups and fish dishes to vegan and gluten free options.

The market is in a prime location in Newport and is aimed at promoting the type of uses the longer term regeneration of the harbour area might provide. Within walking distance from the centre the weekly event is showcasing the diversity of Newport harbour as a leisure, tourism, retail and marine enterprise, being well served by transport links.
Please note that the access bridge to Newport Quay is open to pedestrians but NOT vehicles, while it undergoes repair.
