A planning application has been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council to create a storage container park in a residential area of Ryde.
Mr Stephen Darch of SD Construction (IW) Ltd has applied for a change of use at the former Victoria Crescent council depot in Elmfield.
Under the plans, a total of 45 storage containers would be sited alongside parking for 10 motorhomes/caravans.
Historically, over the past 30-odd years, the land was used by the Isle of Wight Council as storage for its parks and beaches department. The land was sold off and purchased by the appliance in 2016.
11 parking spaces would be created for those visiting the containers.
More traffic, noise and mayhem for Ryde. Soon to be ruined for the rest of time, thanks to greedy councillors and developers having friends where they need them.
Surely the key word here is RESIDENTIAL. Suppose the containers could be for ‘residential’ use.
Well, it does state there are places for caravans ! ! !
Does not state how small or large they can be as far as i can see.
How to ruin something that was so nice, put IWC in charge.
I’m glad I left the Island it’s management are so clueless, its not even funny anymore.
Why don’t they make a play ground for the local children
Because doing the right thing costs money and the council does not own the land anymore.
