With just 1 week left on the supplementary West Wight school places consultation, more than 420 responses have already been received.
People have until 11th June 2019 to have their say on an alternative preferred option to manage falling pupil numbers in the area.
Under this option, All Saints’ CE Primary School in Freshwater would close with pupils moved to Yarmouth Primary School, which would expand to 30 pupils per year group.
At a later date, the school would be relocated to the All Saints’ site which would receive substantial investment.
Councillor Paul Brading, Cabinet member for education, said:
“I am very pleased to see we have received in excess of 420 responses so far on the consultation.
“I would continue to encourage everybody with an interest in the consultation to respond before it closes on midnight on 11 June 2019.”
A second public meeting is being held on Thursday 6th June, between 18:00 and 20:00, at All Saints’ CE Primary School.

The consultation is underway as there is an oversupply of school places in the West Wight area — a trend which is expected to continue in the coming years.
