After an absence from Sandown for a few years, the Spamfield microlight party came back to stay this weekend.
The annual event, organised by the Isle of Wight Flying Club and Hampshire Microlight Flying Club, attracts microlights from all over the UK and is used as an opportunity to raise funds for charity. This year the Hampshire and IoW Air Ambulance and the BMAA (British Microlight Aircraft Association) Foundation were selected as recipients of monies raised.
Many of the microlights could be seen to be flying over the Bestival site at Downend, taking full advantage of the amazing aerial views of the site from the low and slow perspective.
The event attracted all, including the Island’s MP Andrew Turner.
Microlight manufacturers P&M Aviation launched their newest model at Sandown Airport on Saturday, the Quik Lite – a single seat microlight with high performance and low cost.
