Isle of Wight bus company Southern Vectis is celebrating once again this week after parent company Go South Coast was named UK Bus Operator of the Year for the second time in a row.
Scooping 3 top accolades in this year’s UK Bus Awards – also including the titles of Sustained Marketing Excellence and Top Shire Operator – Go South Coast is now confirmed as the nation’s best, according to all of the UK’s major transport awards.
Andrew Wickham, Managing Director of Go South Coast has said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to receive these prestigious awards – and they are thoroughly deserved by our excellent team, here at Southern Vectis on the island and across all our operators on the south coast.
“This is wonderful recognition for the talents of all my colleagues here – from our skilful engineers, to the managers who ensure everything runs smoothly, the cleaners who keep our buses looking good, and of course our drivers who are the daily contact point for our passengers.
“To be named top operator across the board, for the second year running, is almost unprecedented – and I am very very proud of each and every one of my colleagues.”
The UK Bus Awards scheme was founded in 1996. It was designed to develop further the Bus Good Practice Awards, which were set up by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities in 1991.
Andrew adds:
“We want to keep this momentum. From introducing sparkling new additions to our fleet to helping reduce congestion and improving air quality, we won’t stop looking for ways to further enhance Southern Vectis’ reputation on the Isle of Wight, across the UK and beyond.”
Southern Vectis itself also received a Bronze Award in the Top National Depot category.
