Islanders are being encouraged to support the West Wight Sports & Community Centre and their brave fundraisers who will be swimming across the Solent on Saturday 4th August.
41 swimmers – including Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely – will be attempting the swim from Hurst Castle to Colwell Bay.
They will be supported by a total of 25 kayakers, 8 boats and the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.
2018 will be the 9th Solent Swim and to date some 400 swimmers have swum the Solent with West Wight Sports & Community Centre.
Locals are invited to Colwell to witness this year’s efforts for themselves from 09:00 on the Saturday.
West Wight Sports & Community Centre is a registered charity and the Solent Swim is one of the many events they run to raise much needed funds to keep the Centre open.
