Parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities can make use of the council’s fully accessible holiday accommodation at a subsidised rate this year, as part of this year’s Short Breaks programme for Summer 2019.
Bookings are now being taken for 3, 4 and 7 night breaks at a specially adapted holiday lodge at Nodes Point Holiday Park in Seaview and caravan at Lower Hyde Holiday Park in Shanklin.
The holidays are available to families with children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs who hold a Gateway Card PLUS – which are available via the council’s Short Breaks service.
The holiday facilities enable local families to spend much needed time together with the reassurance that all the specialist equipment they need – such as hoists and ramps – is taken care of, enabling them to focus on taking part in fun and interesting activities as a family.
The council’s Short Breaks programme offers a range of after-school clubs, evening and weekend activities for children and young people with disabilities and or/additional needs, up to the age of 19.
