The annual Short Breaks fun and information day is taking place from 10:00-16:00 on Friday (28th Jul) at 1Leisure Medina, Newport.
The FREE event is open to everyone, in particular those children or young persons with disabilities and/or additional needs. No booking is required.
The event will showcase the Short Breaks activities available throughout the year. There will be opportunities to chat to local providers about what activities they provide and also find out more about the Short Breaks facilities.
Councillor Paul Brading, Cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“While Short Breaks primarily works to increase the participation of children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs in a range of activities; all children and their families are welcome to attend this free event. There will be plenty of activities to enjoy, including face painting, bouncy castles, games, skateboarding, and arts and crafts. It is a great opportunity to see what range of opportunities are available on our Island for children and young people.”
There is also free parking, free refreshments and a raffle.
The council’s Short Breaks programme offers a range of after-school clubs, evening and weekend activities and overnight stays for children and young people with disabilities and or/additional needs (up to their 19th birthday). Additionally, Short Breaks provides a range of facilities for families to use including our Short Breaks Lodge at Nodes Point and caravan and Lower Hyde.
