Shanklin have maintained their 100% record in the new season by beating Basingstoke at the County Ground.
Following the early exchanges, Shanklin took control, creating a number of good chances with Thea Broadhead opening the scoring after being played in by Tilly Yardley’s through ball (1-0).
The game changed following an accidental clash of heads, which left a Basingstoke player requiring stitches and with no substitutes meant they had to play out the rest of the game with 10 players. Things went from bad to worse for the away side with another injury leaving Basingstoke temporarily down to 9.
However, Shanklin were unable to add to their lead, and the half ended with the home side leading by a single goal.
