Shanklin knocked 4 goals past Ventnor without reply in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup on Saturday (14th December).
The game began evenly. Shanklin showed their intent in the 27th minute when Cory Sanderson put the ball in the Ventnor goal, only to see his effort disallowed by referee Ali Taylor.
Shanklin’s 1st goal came in the 32nd minute with a clinical finish from Josh Field following a rebound (0-1).
Shanklin man-of-the-match – the evergreen Dean Stuber – then added a 2nd for the away side by rising above the Ventnor defence to head home a Sanderson corner (0-2).

Half time: Ventnor 0-2 Shanklin
Dan Field added to Shanklin’s advantage 5 minutes after the half time break with a further clinical finish (0-3).
Shanklin keeper Luke Walden – who had been a spectator in the 1st half – then did well to stop a thunderbolt from Ventnor centre forward Charlie Urry.
Josh Field then close to adding to the away side’s advantage, first shooting across the face of the goal and shortly after over the crossbar, with Martin Barrow almost getting a goal back for Ventnor by blasting the ball over the goal.
Jamie Trowbridge killed the game as a competitive contest with a low 20-yard strike in the 77th minute (0-4).
