Shanklin have advanced to the next round of the Challenge Cup by overcoming Northwood St Johns in a penalty shootout at the County Ground on Saturday (31st August).
The game had a sense of déjà vu as the 2 teams had faced each other in the league at the same ground the previous Saturday, with Shanklin overcoming Northwood 3-1 in the encounter.
This Saturday, Northwood managed to match Shanklin over 90 minutes. The Shanklin scorers were Josh Field and new signing Thomas Ashley, with John Bilton and Leigh McKenzie on target for the away side.
After the 2 sides were unable to be separated in full time play, Shanklin overcame their spirited opponents 5-4 on penalties.
