If you partied in the 80s, then there’s a high chance you kicked up your heels to the legendary R&B and soul band, Shalamar, who will be appearing at Jack up the 80s this August.
They were the pioneers of 80s dance music and instrumental in shaping the flamboyant 1980s fashion scene seen in popular dance culture. It therefore seems fitting that the New York based band are flying in direct from the USA to headline the closing night of this year’s Jack Up The 80s festival.
Organisers of the Smallbrook-based event have said:
“Shalamar are one of the most successful Soul groups of all time selling 25 million albums worldwide. They will whip the crowd into a frenzy with their slick yet playful dance routines and massive hits such as A Night To Remember, I Can Make You Feel Good, Friends, Make That Move, There It Is and Take That to the Bank.
“They are guaranteed to deliver a dynamic blend of funky feel good music. It’s the band’s first Isle of Wight festival performance and the perfect crescendo to the biggest party of the Summer!”
The trio featuring Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewett and Carolyn Griffey – the daughter of Solar
Records founder Dick Griffey – bring an exciting blend of funk, disco and soul to every live show. Accompanied by a fabulous live band, they are without a doubt one of the most powerful and energetic acts of the decade.
Jack Up The 80s takes place over the weekend of 11th and 12th August.
A strictly limited number of Early Bird tickets are now on sale until 28th February. Priced at just £45 for both the Saturday and Sunday, tickets are available to purchase from www.jackupthe80s.co.uk.
