Just 3 months after Island Echo reported the slashing of a prison officer’s throat at HMP Isle of Wight, a second attack has taken place – this time resulting in a female teacher receiving head and facial injuries.
Hampshire Constabulary are investigating the incident at the Island’s prison following the attack by an inmate earlier this week. It is unknown if a weapon was used.
Almost replicating a statement issued on the previous attack, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice has said:
“We do not tolerate any violence against the dedicated staff who work with our offenders and will always push for the strongest possible punishment
“This police are investigating so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage”.
2 years ago a number of prisoners escaped death after a fire ripped through a wing of Albany. Building works are yet to be completed, indicating the extent of the damage caused.
