Sandown Carnival Association has today (Saturday) announced a new date for their annual firework display, which was sadly cancelled due to the weather last Saturday (2nd November).

The organisers were forced to call off their November Celebrations event after an amber weather warning was issued by local forecasters IW Met Service.

This decision was taken with the public’s best interest at heart and this proved to be the right decision, with the Esplanade closed for a time due to falling objects from scaffolding surrounding the Premier Inn construction site.

To celebrate the end of Sandown’s 130th anniversary year of carnival, the committee have decided to reschedule the firework display for Wednesday 1st January 2020.

The fireworks are due to start at 18:00 and will be fired from their usual spot at the end of Sandown Pier.

Everyone is welcome to the free event, although donations are greatly received in helping to keep this professionally organised event going for future years to come.

You can find out more about Sandown Carnival New Years Day Firework Display on their Facebook event page or via their website at

Please note, this event is subject to weather conditions. Check back regularly over the festive period to see the latest updates.
