34-year-old Jermaine Jack-Liden has been charged with theft after a 89-year-old man had his wallet stolen whilst shopping in Ryde on Wednesday.
The incident is said to have occurred at around 12:30 on Wednesday lunchtime whilst the pensioner was shopping at the Co-Op store in Anglesea Street.
Police have said the man, who was completely unaware of the incident, was pickpocketed.
Following enquiries, officers arrested Jermaine Jack-Liden of Upper Highland Road, Oakfield in connection with the incident. He has since been charged him with 1 count of theft from the person of another. He has also been charged with 1 count of being concerned in production of a controlled drug of Class B.
The wallet has since been returned to the victim.
Jack-Liden will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Wednesday 6th June.
