Ryde Academy secured a 4th place finish in the Rock Challenge Southern Premier Final at Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday with their performance ‘Oel Nhati Kamé’.
10 schools from across Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Dorset, Buckinghamshire, West Sussex, the Isle of Wight and London competed, all hoping to become Southern Premier Champions for 2018.
Although Ryde missed out on a podium position, their performance telling the tale of Alien love and a battle for survival secured them Awards of Excellence for Choreography; Performance Skill; Stage Use; Concept; Drama; Set Design and Function and Entertainment.
They also walked away with the Award for Performer’s Choice and the Award for Parental Involvement.
Ryde were not the only Island school competing… Sandown Bay Academy also entered but had less success in the tightly-fought battle. They won Awards of Excellence for Stage Use; Set Design and Function; Visual Enhancement; Entertainment and Lighting.
Well done to all who took part!
