Santa Dash, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice’s festive fun run, is returning to Ryde on Sunday 3rd December to raise funds for the hospice to help support Islanders and their families.
Registration for this ever-popular, family friendly event is now open. The 5k dash starts at 11:00, with registration and a warm-up from 10:00, at Ryde Superbowl and takes in the spectacular views of the seafront. Participants make their way along the Esplanade, through Appley Park and past the historic Appley Tower before returning to Superbowl to completing the circular course.
Entry includes a Santa Suit and, once the course is completed, a medal – generously sponsored by Docklands Traffic Management (DTM) this year. Every fun runner also gets a well-earned mince pie.
Dani Johnson, Community Events Fundraiser, said:
“There’s always a great festive atmosphere at our Santa Dash, as a sea of red and white makes its way along Ryde Esplanade! The great thing is that you don’t have to be a serious runner; in fact you can take part in any way at all – whether that’s jogging, walking or even hopping if you want! Just make sure you sign up soon and start getting in the Christmas spirit!”
Nigel Hartley, Chief Executive, said:
“By fundraising for our hospice, you’ll be supporting the future of care for dying people and their families wherever they are on the Island – whether that’s in their own homes and places that they live, on our hospice ward, using our day care facilities at the John Cheverton Centre, or even through our special team at St Mary’s Hospital who support patients to get to the place that they want to die. Thank you and good luck to all our Santas!”
Entry is £15 per adult, £10 per child under 12, and free for under 3s. To book a place, visit www.iwhospice.org and click on the Events tab.
