May is national walking month, so alongside encouraging groups and workshops to get outdoors and do some rambling, Independent Arts are challenging participants, supporters, and fundraisers to take up their May walking challenge; 70 Mile May – getting outdoors, active, and raising some funds along the way.
The challenge is simple, to walk the equivalent of the Island’s coastal paths, a total of 70 miles, outdoors, over the month of May. Participants can approach the challenge in the way that best suits them; they could aim to walk 2.25 miles every day of the month or do some longer more challenging walks to make up the mileage, or they could walk all 70 miles of the coastal path in one go.
Those taking part are advised to join the fundraising campaign by setting up their own fundraising page on JustGiving. Step-by-step instructions will be shared on Independent Arts social media.
The charity has set a fundraising target of £70 equal to £1 a mile, but this is a target, not an obligation! Individuals are asked to raise what they can and spread the word by getting other people involved. The challenge will officially begin on Saturday, May 1st, and ends Monday, May 31st.
